Casey Stoner finished 17th in his first World Championship start, in 125cc in July 2001 at Donington Park. He wasn't so successful in his first auto race Friday.
Two-time MotoGP World Champion Stoner crashed out of his first auto race, the season opener for the Dunlop Series, the development series for V8 Supercars Australia, on Friday at Adelaide. Stoner flat-spotted his right-front tire after overshooting a turn early in the 24-lap race. The tire blew on Lap 12, sending Stoner's Holden Commodore into the concrete wall on the temporary street circuit.
It remains uncertain if any of Stoner's rivals accused him of running out of talent after his crash.
