Today is the last day of the COTA MotoGP test at the Austin facility. While the past three mornings have been quite cool, today is different. It is quite warm already at 10:30 AM and the weather forecast is for higher temps today than the previous two days.
Yamaha is not testing today and it is clear that their objectives of this test were different than Honda's. Yamaha seemed to want to get their riders here and have them acclimate to the track while the M1's computers logged all data possible so that when the factory Yamaha team does return next month they can start with in the ballpark gearing and a baseline set up.
Just the Hondas will be testing today and it's possible that the times will drop due to the riders now having two days of practice under their belt and the rise in temps.
Dani Pedrosa's side of the Repsol Honda garage experimented, according to the Spaniard, with spinning the rear tire around on the back of the bike yesterday afternoon putting the softer compound on the left and the harder compound on the right. He said it was a positive change. The old dealership tire mounter in me could not fully believe this but after a quick look at the tires in the Bridgestone garage I could not find one directional arrow on any tire wall.
