Caterham confirmed it will start a Moto2 team in 2014, with American Josh Herrin as its first rider. 2013 AMA/DMG Superbike champion Herrin will ride a Suter chassis. French Moto2 veteran Johann Zarco is reported to be negotiating with the team for the second seat.
Stiggy Motorsport owner and manager Johan Stigefelt will manage Caterham, which also announced it wants to pursue production of street bikes.
For years Stiggy Honda was a well-respected and scrappy team in WSBK. Stigefelt ran a successful race effort even though the WSBK series and world itself were in the worst economic firestorm seen since the late 1920s. John Hopkins and other riders were serious threats on Stiggy CBR1000RR machinery.
Politically, Dorna won't want the Caterham effort to flail helplessly for the message it will send to F1 and others, including their former business partner/rival Berni Eccelstone.
