Twenty years ago a scrappy crew of Americans--with some help from Australia--won the World Superbike championship on a Kawasaki. 1993 was the the mid-dawn of Ducati dominating the championship and an in-line four winning the title seemed almost impossible. Team Muzzy Kawasaki, with Scott Russell as rider, Peter Doyle as Team Manager and accomplished mechanics Gary Medley and the late Merlyn Plumlee on board accomplished the near impossible by beating Ducati and everyone else for the WSBK title.
Huddersfield UK's Tom Sykes and crew won the WSBK title using a Kawasaki yesterday in Spain. This marks only the second time that Kawasaki has won the title.
