Marquez's Title Math
Friday, October 25, 2013
Marc Marquez saw his World Championship lead sliced from 43 to 18 points after he was excluded from the Australian Grand Prix last Sunday. But there's still a realistic possibility this weekend at Motegi he could become the first rookie World Champion in the premier class since Kenny Roberts in 1978.
Since Marquez has finished on the podium in 14 of his 16 starts this season, here are the likeliest scenarios for him to win the World Championship this weekend:
Marquez wins, and Jorge Lorenzo finishes third or lower.
Marquez finishes second, and Lorenzo finishes fifth or lower.
Marquez finishes third, and Lorenzo finishes eighth or lower.
