Marc Marquez has ignited MotoGP with his incomparable rookie season in the premier class, but his younger brother, Alex, is historically already ahead of Marc's pace.
Alex Marquez earned his first Grand Prix victory Sunday, beating fellow Spaniard Maverick Vinales by .027 of a second at Motegi in a spellbinding Moto3 finish. Marquez found the top step of the podium in his 27th Grand Prix start; it took Marc Marquez 34 starts to earn his first 125cc victory.
Marquez's victory set up a three-rider fight for the World Championship on Nov. 10 at Valencia. Leader Luis Salom leads Vinales by two points, with Alex Rins just five points out of the lead.
