Misano was one of the tracks that the CRT teams had suspected they might find a layout that would reward their choice in motorcycle and Aleix Espargaro certainly proved that correct today in the second MotoGP free practice session. The Spaniard finished the session fifth-fastest. Incredibly, Espargaro lapped faster than two satellite factory Hondas, both factory Ducatis and both satellite Tech 3 Yamahas.
Karel Abraham crashed in the session and walked away holding his left arm. Stefan Bradl and Brad Smith also crashed but both seemingly unjurt. Cal Crutchlow was oddly off the pace today at Misano, finishing the session in tenth place.
A wonderful last lap duel between Marquez and Rossi was ruined when the pals and rivals encountered a CRT on the racing line and the pair stalled their run trying to make it past the slower rider.
Marquez basically owned the session, at one point receiving a penalty for drifting off on the exit of a corner and wailing his Honda through Misano's infamous Astroturf--impressive indeed.
