Yamaha's Rossi Injured In FP4 Crash At Brno
Saturday, August 16, 2014

Valentino Rossi is currently in the infield medical center after suffering a nasty and fast crash at Brno in the fourth practice session.

Rossi had just set the fast lap time of the weekend, then lost the front and crashed in a fast corner. The Italian slid to a stop in the gravel, and immediately began examining his left hand.

Just then, Alvaro Bautista's Gresini Honda crashed on the same path as Rossi's Yamaha had, and the bike tumbled—far too close for comfort—past Rossi.

For the last eighteen months both factory Yamaha riders have complained about other riders following them in order to improve their laps times.

Whether Bautista was trying to shadow Rossi to improve his lap time is unknown.

Update: Rossi joined the 'damaged finger club' today in his crash at Brno. Like Brad Smith Rossi has a hard abrasion on his left little finger. It will not prevent him from taking part in final qualifying. Rossi was in the garage, smiling to cameras but wincing while putting on his gloves.
