Some were surprised to learn that Aspar Honda MotoGP rider Nick Hayden underwent a surgical process recently to ail his bum wrist where several bones were removed from the joint.

Needless to say, we were not surprised that Hayden "made a move" so that he could--hopefully--continue to race a motorcycle for several more years. Thinking about it now, if someone called us and said that Hayden decided he would have his hand/wrist amputated and would race with a pirate-like hook for the final eight races of the season, we'd probably only be mildly surprised.

However, one does wonder how the bone-removing op will impact Hayden's race at Indy in a few weeks. At the moment, there is no official word on Hayden's participation in the event. But knowing Hayden if he's still breathing he's still considering racing.

And if it develops that he can't race Indy, no doubt he'll be there to see fans and sign 'graphs.
