Americans have a long history of success and participation at the Suzuka 8 Hours race. Americans Wes Cooley and Five time F1 champion Mike Baldwin won the first ever 8 Hours race at Suzuka in 1978, while numerous American riders have taken part in the race from Ben Bostrom, Miguel DuHamel, Wayne Rainey, Fred Merkel, Scott Russell (winner '93), Eddie Lawson, Kenny Roberts and of course multi-time Suzuka 8 Hours winner Colin Edwards II.

With the most recent entry list now making the rounds, it's shocking to see that there is just one American rider in the race for 2014: Kevin Schwantz.

The 2014 Suzuka 8 Hours will kick off on July 27.
