HONDA TO RACE VTR SP1 IN 2000 WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP

Honda is pleased to announce that it will race the new VTR SP1 in next year's World Superbike championship. The 999cc twin-cylinder machine will be raced by the official Honda team in the series, with two riders.

As in the past, Honda's World Superbike championship effort will operate with the full technical support of the Honda Racing Corporation in Japan. Honda is looking forward to an exciting and successful year 2000 season with the VTR SP1.

"It's great news to be racing the VTR SP1," said Castrol Honda team manager Neil Tuxworth. "The machine looks very nice and I'm under no illusions that the first year with a new machine will be demanding on both team and riders."

Negotiations with riders for next year are on-going.
