Honda Wins 600 Supersport Championship

Nicky Hayden won the AMA Pro Honda Oils 600 Supersport championship moments ago with a fifth place finish. Hayden did a huge helmet-less burnout in the podium area to celebrate. Hayden's title rival, Tommy Hayden, finished second to the race winner Aaron Yates, but there was not enough of a points gap for the Yamaha rider to win the title.

Nicky Hayden entered his first AMA pro roadrace at PPIR two years ago and today he wrapped up the title at the same venue. Hayden thanks his sponsors including Erion Racing and Dunlop tires, and asked everyone to keep his friend Toby Jorgenson in their prayers.

Muzzy Kawasaki rider Yates won his first race of the year here at Colorado. The Georgia rider took the lead on lap twelve and diced with second and third place finishers Tom Hayden and Kurtis Roberts but had a commanding advantage at the finish line.
