Picotte still unsigned
According to his manager, Alan LaBrosse, Harley-Davidson rider Pascal Picotte has not yet signed a contract with anyone for the 2000 season. LaBrosse states, "Pascal has offers from Harley-Davidson, Vance and Hines Ducati and a World Superbike team. He's thinking things over right now and will probably make a decision in a few days." Picotte finished the season in high style, placing second in the season finale at PPIR on the factory Harley-Davidson VR1000.
The World Superbike offer is said to be from the Yamaha factory team, but LaBrosse would neither confirm or deny that point.
Picotte confirmed last night when he got off the plane in Minneapolis that he had a big decision to make, but had not yet made up his mind.
Off topic note: Dirt bike sales in Canada skyrocket: Picotte's 99 contract with Harley-Davidson paid a cool bonus of $100,000 if the Canadian could get the VR on the podium twice in one season; which he did. A big off-road motorcycle enthusiast, Picotte owns at least eight XR100s, and just about every model four-stroke dirt bike made in the last three years.
