Doohan: Speedvision is a nice sedative ...I've not really been watching the races over here in the States. The telecasts aren't live and when the racing does come on you get about two laps, then ten minutes of commercials, another two laps and then more commercials. That's what it seems like anyway, so you end up falling asleep watching the races!
But looking at the season as a whole I've still got to say Alex was obviously the guy doing good. He was the most consistent and he did the best job. It sounds like there was a lot of trouble with white lines at Buenos Aires - something I know all about after my Jerez crash. They need to do something about this kind of problem - it's pretty dumb having slippery lines at the edge of a racetrack. Motorcycle racing is dangerous enough without people making it worse just because they can't be bothered to use the right paint.
Selina and Allexis are over here at the moment and the baby's coming along well. We were meant to be heading down to see Wayne and Shae Rainey last week but Shae had the flu, so we thought that wouldn't be good for Allexis.
No more news on the team at the moment. I guess everything depends on whether I'm riding in 2000 or not, I'm going to see how I feel over the next few weeks and then make a decision. I'm off to Japan on Thursday to see the guys from Honda and we'll be talking things through there. Obviously I've got to make up my mind soon - I can't just decide two weeks before the start of next season, everyone has to make their plans.
My left wrist is a lot better since they took out the metalwork last month, though the arm's still not as strong as the right. The legs are getting a lot better too, hopefully I'll be on one crutch by the time I'm in Japan. -- Mick Doohan
