| Its name is Thor |
| Buell
will be debuting a new street single in 2000 and details of this new machine
are few, and known only to people who work at Buell in Wisconsin (many
who assuredly wear triangular cheese shaped hats on occasion).
Just to keep you informed, here's some of the details we're aware of. Name: Buell Thor Engine configuration: 500cc or so. Unclear if the engine is H-D based with a cylinder lopped off, or a new design. Rotax/Aprilia/Suzuki sources say they have no info on Buell buying a gross of engines, so it seems as if this is either an existing HD engine, modified, or something new from Milwaukee. Dry weight: 367 lbs Suspension: Showa front, & not the usual Buell arrangement out back. Supposed retail price: just a tick under five thousand dead presidents. Two different seat heights will be offered, at 27 and 29 inches. Focus of the bike is unclear at the moment as well. Some insiders say it's a great entry level bike for new riders (with a low seat height, one might presume they're going after female riders), or Buell are aiming at the niche market of high performance thumper enthusiasts? Stay tuned. amasuperbike.com
