ROBERTS: "THE HARDEST I'VE HIT THE GROUND IN MY LIFE
Kenny Roberts Snr. was back at a Grand Prix for the first time in more than two months at Buenos Aires over the weekend.
The Modenas team owner was badly injured when he crashed a dirt bike while out riding with a friend in Montana, suffering serious concussion, five broken ribs and a broken hand.
"That was the hardest I've hit the ground in my life," said Roberts, 500 world champ in 1978, '79 and '80. "I was out cold for 30 minutes and Dr Ting (the American surgeon who looks after several top GP riders) couldn't believe I hadn't broken my neck."
Roberts was riding an XR100.
