The much loved American SuperCamp will be visiting the Atlanta area later this month and as of today they have three cancellations. The date of the classes are Nov. 12-13, and you of course know that American SuperCamp is the XR100 based riding school that teaches basic dirt track technique.
Guest instructors for this event will be Wil Davis, Aaron Yates and it's rumored that even Mr. Daytona, Scott Russell will come by for a few hours of left turn fun.

If you want more info on the openings, or want to know when the SuperCamp is coming to your town, call the SuperCamp at 970-669-4322. Tell 'em AMASuperbike.com sent ya.

Ducati will hold their second World Ducati Weekend next year after their wildly successful WDW 1 was so wildly successful last year. Dates for the Y2K event are June 23-25 and if you're looking to kiss the ring of Sir Carl Fogarty, this is the place to do it. This time the Ducati fest will take place at the Santamonica International Racetrack, located just a scooter ride from the beaches of Rimini and Riccione.

Since you already know that a portion of the Ducati Corse race team are in the States right now photographing cool Ducati people and their bikes for an upcoming project, we won't mention it.

American Honda will test their almost new Superbike team later this week or next at Willow Springs. This is the first time Miguel DuHamel and Nick Hayden will ride together as an official team, and the first time DuHamel will work with his new mechanic, Mitch Leonard.

Questions remain about the changes that are being made at the Sears Point facility for 2000 and if those changes will be enough to get the AMA Superbike series back in that Northern California facility. My sources say that if the changes that the AMA wants are not made, the race won't happen. Period. With Laguna going WSC (mostly), Phoenix being canceled and now Sears perhaps in semi-jeopardy, we could have a seven race series circa 1984 fairly quickly.

Goodyear/Dunlop's pull-out of  open wheel racing might have given some the impression that Dunlop might ratchet back their involvement in US Superbike racing. According to Dunlop's Mike Manning, that's not the case.

In an e-mail to amasuperbike.com. he stated, "I just want to assure you that we have commitments from the highest ranking Goodyear executives, made personally to Mike Buckley and myself, that Goodyear recognizes the success and fully supports the continued success of Dunlop's motorcycle racing program. This commitment has been followed up with continued strong budget support, and we are very ready to go racing next year.

"Comparing car vs. motorcycle race marketing is really apples to oranges. The Wall Street Journal had a good review of the Goodyear pull-out which explains how people buying car tires know that race results have nothing to do with their car tires, what (it) doesn't go on to say, is that motorcycle racing really does relate directly to the consumer tires. You can find the article at www.wsj.com if you search for 'Goodyear racing' articles on October 27th."

Dunlop tire test at Daytona is December 4-5-6. We'll be there in force, bringing you updates all day long.

More later, maybe.
