McGrath: I'd love to try Superbikes
For years there has been a great deal of conjecture regarding whether Supercross champion Jeremy McGrath will try roadracing after his Supercross/Motocross career is over.
Today, McGrath stated that he would indeed like to give Superbikes a shot. "I want to try it," he said. "They're awesome. Any time I see Superbikes on television I stop and watch it. I'm a big fan."
While sitting on Jamie Hacking's Yamaha R7 Superbike, McGrath said that he's like to test a Superbike this season. "I'd like to give it a shot, maybe go ride with these guys when they go test somewhere. Who knows, maybe I'd suck at it," he said.
McGrath said that he has had streetbikes in the past but does not at the moment. "I had a Honda when I rode for Honda, and a Suzuki when I rode for Suzuki. It's probably not good for me to have a streetbike right now. I know my parents were not stoked about it. I love them though, they're awesome."
When he asked Yamaha Racing manager Larry Griffis when he could go testing with the Superbike team, Griffis replied, "Any time after May."
