Chevy Trucks and AMA Pro Racing Sign Multi-year Deal

My sources say that AMA and Chevy Trucks will make an announcement today at the World Supercross event outlining a multi-year deal whereby Chevy Trucks will sponsor the AMA Superbike series and Motocross series. Chevy Trucks are also going to be known as the official truck of "flat track racing" which I guess you and I refer to as Dirt Track.  They also will sponsor the AMA Motocross des Nations team.

MBNA and Parts Unlimited sponsored the Superbike series in 1999.

It's heavily rumored that Chevy Trucks will also sponsor a motocross team, and might even be looking to get on board with a Superbike team.

There's a press release over at the AMA's site you can read for more information.

Lotsa unknowns in all of this. Nobody I spoke with involved with the deal knows what the deal is worth, how long it runs (other than multi-year)  and how much of the Chevy money will go to a Superbike and or Motocross rider points fund.

AMA sources say they will be releasing that info, at least regarding point fund details, in the coming weeks. -- Dean Adams
