Carr
and Aprilia in 2001 F-USA?
by dean adams
Dirt tracker cum laude and the only
guy in the world to put a VR1000 on the pole of a Superbike race, Chris
Carr, will ride an Aprilia RSV in the PACE F-USA roadrace series next year,
say sources close to the deal.
The team will be run by Blackman's
Cycle, with Carr running at least the first F-USA round at Daytona, and
Mike Himmelsbach racing the Aprilia for the entire season.
Carr is slightly busy with running
two dirt track series, plus doing Supercamps on occasion and trying to
have a life. How much time he'll have for roadracing is unknown.
Strong rumor has it that Aprilia
has sent or will send Carr's long time dirt track tuner, Kenny Tolbert,
an RSV engine to be placed in a dirt track chassis. Hmmm.
Carr was unavailable for comment
and is reputed to be on vacation in Hawaii.
Mark Blackman stated this morning
that the rumor that Carr and Himmelsbach will be racing Aprilias in 2001
F-USA is "pretty accurate".
"We have a letter of intent signed
with Aprilia to do it," he stated.
Blackman said that they will issue
a press release soon, and will also unveil who the title sponsor for the
effort will be.
Blackman's Cycle is located about
fifteen minutes from Chris Carr's house in Fleetwood, PA.
