A brief rain shower stopped testing at Daytona International Speedway. Dunlop had planned for the teams to work through lunch to make up for a late start, but now it appears highly paid riders and mechanics will spend the next hour or so preoccupied with avoiding the discharge of low-flying sea gulls.
Most of the on-track motorcycles so far on Monday had been 600 Supersport machines, with the notable exception of Pascal Picotte, Eric Bostrom and Mat Mladin. Bostrom was the first rider to perform a sub-2:00 lap and the only incident so far has been one of the Tilley Buells blowing up.
