The tale: The Beatles were GP motorcycle fans in the 1970s.

The verdict: True. Kinda.

The Beatles more or less broke up in 1970, so if any of them were fans, it wasn't four mop-tops with scads of screaming fans in tow touring the paddock.

That said, George Harrison has always been a motor racing fan and was sucked into GP racing in the mid-1970s Barry Sheene period. He, of course, had to watch as Kenny Roberts kicked Sheene's ass from one side of Europe to the other.

Undaunted, Harrison was still attending Grand Prix (or Grands Prix, for you purists) in the eighties, but is mostly sighted at F-1 car races these days.
