Splendor In The Grass, Xaus vs Norino Brignola at Monza 2006
images by the united jumbo band, take one
Ruben Xaus clashed with privateer Norino Brignola at Monza during practice last weekend. The pair hit the ground and Xaus was incensed.
While previously unknown, Xaus must be a student of international political science. Here he is clearly adopting the North Korean way of problem solving: create new and larger problems which negate the older and smaller ones. Example: who cares about their human rights and environmental transgressions when the dork with the bad haircut has his finger on the ICB launch button?
Another theory centers around the '80s film Footloose which is very popular in Europe for its, um, accurate portrayal of American life. Perhaps these two are just recreating the landmark 'lets play chicken with large farm equipment' scene? In reality all these two want to do is dance (badly) damnit!
But, really now, come on Ruben: The lady doth protest too much. Xaus has crashed and destroyed enough bikes in his career to start a small motorcycle salvage business. Being outraged over a slightly bent one now is a bit much, don't you think?
Oh, man, Ruben you've done it now. Even the half-blind old fossils at the FIM won't be able to ignore the imagery in this scene, and especially the 'please, don't hurt me' body language used by Brignola. Get yer checkbook out, Ruebs.
