Marco Simoncelli's funeral was held in Coriano Italy yesterday.

The church was packed and thirty thousand people stood outside or at the nearby circuit.

Riders and fans alike left memorials for the late Sic, honoring his memory.

Efforts are underway for MotoGP to retire Sic's number--58--forever.

A local shop's window.

Sic's honesty and form made him very popular with fans around the world.

A somber scene.

Sic's friend, Valentino Rossi, helped roll his Honda GP bike out of the church.

Some fans wrote messages to Sic on their leathers, knee pucks or jackets and left them in the square.

Messages to Sic made by fans and wet from the rain, were everywhere in the town square.

His casket was brought outside the church and placed on the ground for the final goodbyes.

Tears and salutes were widespread when Sic was placed in the hearse.

His father, Paolo, Rossi and others pause and reflect.

The irrepressible Dr. Claudio Costa.

Sic's girlfriend, Kate said, "He only had good qualities. He was a perfect person and perfect people cannot live with us ordinary mortals"

A cloud of red balloons, many of them '58' were released after the service.

After the hearse left, the square began to empty.
