Yamaha held a huge send off party for their friend Colin Edwards II at Indy on Saturday. It was an enormous and star-studded affair with appearances from everyone from Marc Marquez to Valentino Rossi.

Fans at Indy started lining up early for the send-off. It was a packed house by the time it kicked off.

Edwards manned the t-shirt gun while his son tossed the long snaps.

Edwards posed with his 2014 squad: Forward Yamaha.

Reigning world champion Marc Marquez gave Edwards credit for being a very good rider and someone who over the years had taught him many bad words.

Stefan Bradl as well spoke well of his friend Edwards.

Yamaha race boss Lin Jarvis had hired Edwards twice, in WSBK and then in MotoGP. He said that Edwards' father, CE1, (one-time manager) is the hardest negotiator he'd ever dealt with in his life.

Former two time MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo got and gave much respect from the crowd.

Bradley Smith of Tech 3 Yamaha also spoke of his friend Edwards.

Lorenzo chatted about Edwards with broadcaster Nick Harris.

Then the big gun came out: Rossi spoke of Edwards being one of his best friends in the paddock, and that it was a friendship cemented when they won the Suzuka 8 Hours in 2001.

Current Yamaha Superbike team manager Tom Halverson told stories of being Edwards' mechanic when the Texan was a Yamaha support motocrosser in the late 1980s.

Tech 3 Yamaha Hervé Poncharal said that Edwards was one of the fastest and most entertaining riders he has had on his crew at T3Y.

Asked for comments from his family, Edwards's son said having him as a dad is 'pretty sketchy' while his wife said that being married to CE2 has been 'challenging'. Their comments brought great laughs.

Adios amigos.

Even Dani Pedrosa spoke of his great respect for Edwards. He was greeted warmly by the largely American crowd.
