In 1983, admission for the three-day event cost twenty bucks. If memory serves, it also got you in on Monday, a day of drag racing.

In 1983 there were no garages at BIR, and the teams worked out of tents right off the dirt. That's current Honda crewchief Ray Plumb on the left.


The Kawasaki team pitted out of the open-air garage in the never-enviable location right off the bathrooms. That's Rob Muzzy, center, talking to Ken Funkhouser and rider Wes Cooley Jr. Cooley and Rainey used S-1 Superbikes in '83 F1 racing.
