This is a press release from Tom Kipp and his agent.

For Immediate Release      October 22, 1999

On October 15, 1999 Tom Kipp declined an offer proposed by American Suzuki Motor Corporation, to return to the Chaparral Suzuki Supersport Team. Tom Kipp, his manager Vic Karshner, and American Suzuki entered into discussions concerning Kipp's returning to the Chaparral Suzuki Team in 2000 to defend his 750 SuperSport Championship. Kipp's decision not to return to the team had no bearing on salary issues or any other issue regarding American Suzuki or Chaparral. Returning to SuperSport racing at this juncture in Tom's career would not be consistent with his career goals. Having secured yet another SuperSport Championship continuing racing in this class would be considered a lateral move rather than a vertical move up.

Tom regrets that his decision will not allow American Suzuki to defend its Number One Plate in 2000. However, Tom stated that the professionalism, enthusiasm, and excitement exhibited by American Suzuki and the Chaparral Suzuki Team made his 1999 season a memorable and enjoyable one. Given this was Chaparral's debut year and Tom's last minute assignment to the team, Tom could only describe the season as a huge success.

As for future plans, discussions are underway with Superbike teams in the US and overseas. If the "right" situation does not materialize for the 2000 season, Tom's other interests will easily fill that void.

This in no way should be construed as "retirement", as Tom is anxious to return to Superbike competition.
