About our current main page image: Foxhunt

Foxhunt came to amasuperbike.com from the press kit of World Supersport rider Massimo Meregalli*. His press kit was designed and developed by the groundbreaking new Italian design and communications firm Viewpoint (www.viewpoint.it). Viewpoint has been working in World Superbike racing for the past two years and have been working with many riders, including Troy Corser, Scott Russell and the Ferarri Ducati team.

The term groundbreaking gets thrown around a lot in today's world, but the press and promotions items from Viewpoint are indeed groundbreaking as they drag the promotions side of racing into the 1990s, kicking and screaming. Want evidence? Look at the press kits or Web sites of any of the major teams or manufacturers, then compare it to an Indy car team or even a lowly NASCAR team. Motorcycle racing promotions items have not changed in ten years, at least. Honestly there isn't much new design in motorcycling period, with the exception of Mike Aron's work over at Ferracci, and in some ways AR. All the magazines, all the press kits and everything else looks about the same way they did in 1968. Until Viewpoint.

Viewpoint's press materials (their Ferarri press kit is worthy of a frame) help show the excitement and majesty of motorcycle racing on a world championship level. They are not in this as a job (they did Russell's web site for free) but because, like you and I, they love motorcycle racing. In the coming weeks we'll be uploading more of Viewpoint's press materials for you to have a look at.

* Meregalli rides a Yamaha YZF600, is almost competitive against the Suzukis and Ducati 748s, and has some American connections: one of his lead mechanics is Danny Hull who tuned last season for Tommy Hayden over at Team Muzzy, and tuned in the past for Scott Russell. Hull is married to Tanya Hull, Rob Muzzy's personal assistant.
