Herewith: images from the 1995 Laguna Seca WSBK event. Above-Aaron Slight is pushed off on the factory Honda RC45. Mechanic Adrian Gorst on the left.
Rider Mig DuHamel. Crewchief Al Ludington. 1995 Laguna was the year that the US Honda team basically humbled the factory team. At the end of practice a rep from the factory WSBK team did the walk of shame to the Smokin Joes transporter and pleaded for help.
WSBK needed a year to really take off in California but it was a hugely successful event and set the stage for MotoGP ‘s return.
World champion Carl Fogarty never liked Laguna Seca and it had nothing to do with his strong dislike for Americans and America. The former IOM TT winner said Laguna had too many blind corners and was dangerous.
Fogarty ruminates with former rider Anders Anderson (back to camera) and his mechanic, Slick Bass.
‘Wot tire ya puttin on me bike?’. Australian Anthony Gobert was pure magic at Laguna Seca. His run down the hill almost took your breath away. Muzzy Kawasaki mechanic Rick Johnson is hidden behind the Dunlop tech.
Yamaha factory rider Yasutomo Nagai. He was a strong rider and Yamaha’s hope for their WSBK future. Two months after this photo was taken he was killed at Assen when he crashed in oil and his YZF landed on him.
