How Bad Is It Out There? Is Cycle World Going To Six Issues?

Bonnier’s gamble to take over motorcycle publishing. Whose Idea Was That …?

You’ve got to be a brave company to double down on magazine publishing like Bonnier did in roughly the last decade or so. They scooped up many motorcycle titles including Cycle World, Motorcyclist, Sport Rider and more when the bigger publishing houses were no longer interested in keeping them, or their businesses, afloat.

Roughly a decade later and this is the current situation for Bonnier: Sport Rider is no longer being published and the entire staff were laid off, a trimmed-down Motorcyclist was cut to six issues last year and rumors have been strong since July that Cycle World–long billed as the biggest motorcycle magazine in the US and in the world–will cut back to six issues in 2018.
