Automotive News reported last week on the retirements of Jeff Conrad and John Mendel from Honda’s Automotive division.
While that news probably did not shock anyone, the further announcement of the man who will replace Conrad probably did.
Honda hired Henio Arcangeli Jr as a new senior VP and “overall manager of the Honda brand”. His last job in the motorcycle industry was as president of Yamaha’s Motorsports Group (2004-2016).
While he worked at Yamaha, Henio was known as a very enthusiastic race and Valentino Rossi fan. He rode often and was in several of the infamous Yamaha Youtube videos. In the clip above he is in the scene where Ben Spies is trusted as an IT technician.
Automotive News comments:
Arcangeli is a rare outside hire for the top ranks at American Honda and its global parent Honda Motor Co., both of which are known for their insular culture and strong preference for promoting internally.
