Nicky Hayden hasn’t raced a World Superbike event since race two at Laguna in July of 2002. However it’s increasingly looking like Hayden will be back on a Honda and in World Superbike in 2016.
Hayden’s 2002 season remains a storied one: he won the AMA Superbike championship while at the same time racing and winning many of the AMA Grand National dirt track races including the Peoria TT. He raced his factory RC51 Superbike at the Laguna WSBK round in 2002, finishing fourth in race one and well back in race two–after colliding with Nori Haga.
The 2006 MotoGP world champion is rumored to be negotiating with Honda Europe for a deal that would see him join the ten Kate Honda WSBK team next season.
