Final qualifying at CoTA MotoGP was nearly the standard that we have begun to expect from Marc Marquez. He was a half second-faster than anyone, then crashed in a long effort to save it, got a ride back to the garage and went out on his spare bike, Then, he cruised on the racing line and became a rolling roadblock for Maverick Vinales, ruining a fast lap for MV25. Maverick was very angry about this and moments later race direction said that the incident is “under investigation”.
Iannone made a fast lap to snare the last spot on the front row. Zarco, Rossi and Lorenzo were all very fast until the last lap when they, along with Crutchlow, were bounced off the front row.
Marquez’s crash/save/crash alone was worth the price of admission.
