New Repsol Honda MotoGP rider Jorge Loenzo was wheeled into a clinic yesterday complaining of a sort wrist and or hand.
Today it has been disclosed by none other than Dorna CEO Carmelo Carmelo Ezpeleta that Lorenzo has suffered a broken scaphoid. The scaphoid is a small bone in the wrist which is commonly broken due to an impact. Numerous riders have suffered this injury from the late Nicky Hayden to Bradley Smith and others.
One of the more incredible racing comebacks from this injury happened at the British Grand Prix at Donington Park in 1994. Kevin Schwantz suffered a broken scaphoid in practice and was not expected to feature in the race. Schwantz actually won the race, beating Michael Doohan by three seconds, the former in terrific pain.
