San Marino Honors Super Sic

San Marino will issue a postage stamp

It’s been five years since racing lost one of its greatest. Here Sic’s dad watches him learn to ride a Superbike. Dean Adams

It’s hard to believe it’s been more than five years since MotoGP lost the supernova known as Marco Simoncelli in a racing crash at Sepang.

But thoughts of Super Sic’s riding skill and impish radiance still remain prominent among the motorcycle racing community, and San Marino also is doing its part to honor the memory of Simoncelli, who grew up in an area of Italy not far from the republic.

San Marino will issue a 2-euro postage stamp March 7 showing a smiling Simoncelli, complete with his wild hair and ever-present nasal strip, and his bike number, 58.
