There were just a few match-ups between Gary Nixon and King Kenny Roberts. Nix’ was the veteran rider and ex-champion when Roberts started roadracing and Roberts knew he’d need to beat Nixon in order to be recognized as the champ for the next era.

Nixon was always very respectful of Roberts, his talent and accomplishments. He called him “King Kenny” even before Roberts left the USA for Europe and GP stardom.
