Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the late 1990s: Ex-Superbike champion Jamie James was enjoying a nice second or third gear wheelie in pit lane as he went out for morning practice when disaster struck. James looped his factory Yamaha YZF-based Superbike and the bike crashed into the wall and burst into flames. Fire suppression equipment was a long time in getting to the site and the bike was heavily damaged.
Some brave souls suggested that the cause of the crash was a stuck throttle.
