American Suzuki held a dinner at Indy to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the GSX-R750’s introduction. Guest of honor was, of course, 1993 world champion Kevin Schwantz.
This GSX-R750 was ridden by Japanese rider Satoshi Tsujimoto. He raced the US rounds, until Brainerd.
Tsujimoto’s other GSX-R750 ended up in about 60 pieces on the other side of turn one at Brainerd in an infamous incident. Tsujimoto spent months in a Minnesota hospital after the collision with Schwantz. Minnesota is where he learned to eat fish cooked in basically bleach and also to have virtually no sense of humor at all.
Cool? Yes. Fast by modern standards? Ah, no. Just about any Craiglslist CBR600RR or GSX-R600 would smoke this old gal in any performance contest.
In the ’80s you hired your team welder based on how clean his CDL was. And it showed.
This GSX-R was oil AND water cooled and air-cooled. It still over-heated.
